Who is responsible
Njål Gaute Solland, operating VALO Research, is the data controller where VALO Research determines why and how personal data is processed.
Scope
This policy covers valoresearch.org and VALO Research public services that link to it, including research, product, demo and pilot surfaces. A service-specific notice overrides this policy where it explicitly says so.
Data we may process
Information you send directly, such as name, email, organisation, correspondence and pilot information; technical request and security logs generated when services are used; and information required to operate an integration you explicitly enable.
Why we process it
To respond to enquiries, provide requested services, operate and secure systems, investigate failures, maintain evidence where required by a pilot or service, and meet legal obligations.
Legal bases
Depending on the context: performance of a contract or steps requested before a contract, legitimate interests in operating and securing the services, consent where required, and compliance with legal obligations.
Demo and model input
Do not submit confidential, special-category or third-party personal data to a public demo unless the demo explicitly states that it is designed and agreed for that purpose. Demo input is not represented as training data unless a specific service notice says otherwise.
Processors and transfers
Third parties used to host or operate services are listed on the Subprocessors page. Where personal data is transferred outside the EEA, an applicable transfer mechanism must be used where required.
Retention
Personal data is kept only for as long as needed for the stated purpose, security, evidence obligations, contractual requirements or applicable law. Retention may differ by service and pilot.
Your rights
Where GDPR applies, you may have rights of access, rectification, erasure, restriction, portability and objection, and the right to complain to Datatilsynet. Requests can be sent to njaal@valoresearch.org.
Cookies
VALO does not claim that every surface is cookie-free. Where non-essential cookies or similar tracking require consent, they must not be activated before the required choice is provided.
Changes
Material changes will be reflected by the effective date on this page.
